Blogpost #1 - First Thoughts on Ho‘oulu iā Kamehameha

This week Mr. Blake has devoted a majority of our class time toward explaining our upcoming physics project entitled Ho‘oulu iā Kamehameha. For this project, each group is required to come up with different ideas in order to make Kamehameha Schools a better place. We will need to recognize a problem, research solutions, build a working resolution, and lastly create a presentation to pitch our idea followed by a well thought out research paper covering our research process and results. Our group feels that this is without a doubt going to be one of those projects that seems like it actually has a reason for being assigned. We believe that all efforts going into this project will definitely be beneficial for our school in some way, even if our ideas are not entirely successful. Mr. Blake has made it clear that more often than not, students are unsuccessful for unwanted complications get in the way of the production of their solution, but that doesnʻt mean we shouldnʻt try. If at least one group out of all of our physics classes put together is able to come up with one solid solution to a school problem, we would all benefit. It seems that this project is not so much about being successful with our solutions but more so about being concerned enough to get involved.
